Hi Everyone... this  is what happened this  morning:

We had no visiting Rotarians and no guests this morning...it was a rather thin crowd but not surprising the day after Memorial Day.

Jason opened the meeting with a summary regarding  Brewers Bazaar. There were bar graphs galore and lots of positive feedback regarding this year's event. Everyone agreed that the bourbon sampling was a big hit and that the folks who were the VIDs this year really enjoyed themselves as well.  The rain and wind  didn't put a damper on the event at all.  At the end of the day,we took in  $36,851 in gross revenue, and $24,800 in net revenue so it was a better year financially than 2018.

At the Board Meeting last week a decision was made to raise the dues from $160 quarterly to $170 quarterly with the change beginning the first of July. Other action taken at the meeting was the approval of a District Grant to Family Means for Dementia Friendly Virtual Reality.  Arba Della explained that it is equipment for caregivers so that they can actually ...or  I should say virtually... know exactly what it feels like to be someone with dementia.  In the future she will bring in the equipment for us to experience if we so desire.

Mark Lambert invited us all to the Grand Opening of his new office building at 6770 Stillwater Boulevard.  It will be held between 3:30 and 5:30 this Thursday ...so come one , come all.

Our speaker today was  Heather Rutledge who is the Executive Director of Art Reach St. Croix whose main purpose it to connect communities and the arts and to let everyone  know what is going on in the St. Croix Valley.  The area covered would be from Taylors Falls and St. Croix Falls down to Hastings and Prescott and all the river towns in between.  They work with all visual and performing artists and feel that the Arts are an essential part of what makes this Valley great...an intersection of arts and nature.  That is what sets Art Reach apart from more urban settings.  Heather created an online calendar--StCroixSplash.org--where anyone can search for events to see what is going on and there are about 60 events per month.  These events include theater, live music, library events, visual arts, culinary and outdoors.  Also found on the calendar is "Every bend in the river" where locals show you how to discover art and you can find full itineraries online.  During the month of September you can find "Take Me to the River 2019" which is the Fall Art Fair that connects 12 art fairs and festivals. Experience the intersection of Art and Nature in the St. Croix Valley by exploring the many open artists' studios, art festivals and more.  In April there is the Big Read which is a common book program that encourages readers to pick up and read the same book generating some lively discussions.  And coming to a State Park near you is Butterflies and Bluegrass which is a  mobile art gallery designed to be very user friendly.
ArtReach St. Croix is located at 224 North 4th Street in Stillwater and is open  Wednesday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm and Saturdays from noon until 4 pm.  Exhibits change on a regular basis so one visit will not be enough!

Next week Tim Trooien will be hosting our very own Dr. Wendy Heck who will tell us about Panama with Floating Doctors.

At the conclusion of today's meeting, Jason sent us out, as always ---to Be The Inspiration!
